Jerseyville is located 40 miles north of St. Louis and 12 miles from the Great Rivers National Scenic Byway. Jerseyville was originally named “Hickory Grove” by early pioneers, and was renamed Jerseyville in 1834. From Victorian-era models lining side walked streets to spacious colonial homes to cozy country ranches, all corners of American living are available in Jerseyville.
Jerseyville is thriving with our brand new high school, state of the art healthcare facilities, recreational facilities, and industrial parks. Jersey County offers big attractions such as Raging Rivers Water Park, as well as Pere Marquette State Park, Illinois’ largest state park. Our area is a favorite among hikers, campers, fishermen and hunters throughout the country. Simple sightseeing has grown as a hobby among residents and visitors alike, as our area is home to the world’s third-largest American Bald Eagle roost.
While Jerseyville does have a wide variety of stores, it is just a 45-minute drive to St. Louis where stores and malls abound. Jerseyville offers a small town atmosphere with big city benefits. Our town slogan is “Close to the Crowd…But not in it!”
